Naturally Fierce Feature: Alesha Kimbre’

Alesha from Huntsville, AL. I am 22 years old and a nurse.

How long have you been natural?
4 years in October.

What motivated you to transition? Were you a transitioner or a Big Chopper & why? I wanted long healthy hair! I’ve chopped my hair a few times throughout high school. I also colored it, which damaged my hair since I didn’t take care of it properly. Both decisions were me following trends.. Silly me!

What has been the most memorable part of your journey?Has it been easy or difficult or both?! It’s been both easy and difficult. Difficult finding out what products worked for me. Easy part is, my hair is different from most naturals. My hair doesn’t require twist outs or bandu knots to look great. I can just wash and go & my hair is still bomb. Lol blah.

Any memorable reactions from family or others? I used to only wear my hair straight, once I started my wash and go’s and rocking my fro’ .. It kinda surprised my fam and friends. They loved it though. I just referred to my big hair as my alter ego 😀

What is your hair regimen (including fav products)? My favorite hair products includes mane choice deep conditioning mask and curly q fundu as my daily leave in. I also am fond of curls unleashed shampoo and conditioner.
