What motivated you to transition? Were you a transitioner or a Big Chopper& why?
I decided to transition to natural because I wanted a change for my hair. Once I started researching information about natural hair I immediately fell in love. I did both, I transitioned for 9 months and then Big Chopped because I couldn’t wait to be fully natural.
What has been the most memorable part of your journey?Has it been easy or difficult or both?!
The most memorable part of my journey would definitely have to be my Big Chop. Like most naturals, I was really anxious and excited about cutting my hair but I think it was well worth it. My journey has gone fairly smooth. Every now and then I have my bad hair days or weeks but then I also have my moments when I’m just in love with everything about my hair.
What were some of your favorite transitioning hairstyles?
When I transitioned I wore my hair mainly in a ponytail. I couldn’t really venture out and try other styles because I had cut my hair really short one day so I wasn’t really used to styling it. But now favorite styles are buns, ponytails, wash n gos, flat twist outs and I also really enjoy straight hair as well.

What have your experiences been as a ‘natural.’ Any memorable reactions from family or others?
When I first BC’d it wasn’t as popular as it is today so my family and friends were all very surprised and confused as to what I was doing with my hair. Once I started styling it different ways and it started growing more everyone started to love it and many of my family members started going natural because of it.
What is your hair regimen (including fav products)?
My regimen is very simple. I shampoo once a week, i try to deep condition after every shampoo, co-wash whenever I feel like it, and moisturize every other day. Some of my favorite products are SheaMoisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, Eco Styler Gel, Curls Creamy Curl Cleanser, Conditioners, and GVP Silk Remedy for when I straighten.
What are some of your favorite natural hair websites,YouTuber’s, or blogs?
When I was transitioning I loved Motown Girl (they have great tips) and Curly Nikki. Some of my favorite Youtubers are EjHalo, Mahoganyknots, ToniDaley, Tracee Ellis Ross and MsVaughnTv.
