BaronessCountess aka Lichelle I was born in North Carolina but I currently reside in N.Y.C.

How long have you been natural?
I Have been natural for a total of 3 years. It’s really amazing how time flies! It’s been an awesome journey so far, with lots of ups and downs, I’m learning new things about what works for my hair everyday and just enjoying where it takes me.

What motivated you to transition? Were you a transitioner or a Big Chopper& why?
I Big Chopped. The reason for the big chop, was solely on relaxers, and how thin my hair had become over the years. I never knew what “Thick Hair” was truly, until I became natural. That’s when I saw the beauty of my hair ,and how wonderfully it had blossomed,over the few years that I’ve been taking care of it. I think natural hair is beautiful. In all textures, shapes, forms. I’ve always been attracted to anything in it’s original form, So it was no surprised that I decided to be the “Original” me, the “Best” me. 🙂

What has been the most memorable part of your journey?Has it been easy or difficult or both?!
Oh Gosh! It’s been an amazing journey! Waking up everyday, I always think I can expect what my hair will do, But everyday, becomes a new day to learn something new. I go to bed with a mind set of “This style is going to turn out amazing” “Can’t wait till tomorrow” and tomorrow comes, and it doesn’t quite turn out how I thought it would, Lol, or vice versa. But, I love my hair! It’s a part of me, and anything that’s a part of me, is worth sticking it out Lol 🙂

What are  some of your favorite transitioning hairstyles?
I Love Big Fluffy Hair. Whether it be a Braid Out, Twist Out, or a Curly Fro. Big hair is my signature I think! I don’t worry too much on defining my hair. I’m more of a “Wake up and Go” kind of girl (except for the occasional stall-away lint in my strands) I’ll take no more than 15 mins on my hair in the morning.

What have your experiences been as a ‘natural.’ Any memorable reactions from family or others?
My Family Loves it! My Fiance’ tries to run his fingers through my hair all the time, Unsuccessful, but he tries. Lol

What is your hair regimen (including fav products)?
I have a few products that I use as staples. I Love anything Shea Moisture. I use their whole line, as well as Giovanni Conditioners, As I am Products, Loving the Karen’s Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia Leave-in that I tried the other day, It smells amazing and left my hair incredibly soft so that too will be a keeper, As well as Jane Carter Solution, and Nubian Heritage.

What are some of your favorite natural hair websites,YouTuber’s, or blogs?
I love to browse Essence.com to see all the latest events and Natural Hair News. As well as The “CurlBox” Blog. I absolutely Love Myliek, the Founder and Owner of Curlbox, and had a chance to meet her at a recent Ouidad Event that she hosted. I think Her blog is really refreshing, and inspiring for many naturals out there.

Anything you want the readers to know? Inspirational words?
Yes. I always express that being true with yourself and knowing what you want, is the key to your own happiness. You can’t please everyone. And in trying to please everyone, you just might displease yourself. I remind myself that, this is my life, and who better to live it, then me. 🙂
