Naturally Fierce Feature: LaNita

My hair journey began 2007, I transitioned with braids. I was completely natural April 2008. My hair has always grown better without perms, but in the 90’s and early 2000 it was hard to locate a beautician or even products for natural hair. I developed alopecia and was advised by a physician to stop perming my hair or using heat. I did just that. I’ve one episode in 2010 because of a sew-in which irritated my scalp. I’ve been fortunate and my hair has grown back and is very healthy.

How long have you been natural?

I did a big chop Jan. 2012 and I loved the experience. It has been great watching my hair go through stages and it’s healthier without all the synthetic hair I was using with the braids. The synthetic hair caused me to have to do hot oil treatments a lot for dryness.

What motivated you to go natural? Were you a transitioner or a Big Chopper & why?

I love being natural and have inspired others. It’s not a fashion or trend for me; it’s a lifetime change and commitment. I love it and I don’t miss a  perm or straight hair. I’m always creative with hair styles and I’ve recently added red highlights 🙂

What is your hair regimen (including fav products)?

My staple or favorite products are Miss Jessie’s buttercreme, extra virgin olive oil & water, olive oil eco styler gel and crème of nature argon oil leave in conditioner.

Anything you want the readers to know? Inspirational words?
If you’ve been discouraged on your journey, learn patience and I promise you will enjoy it more. Patience is also life changing and good for the soul.
