Naturally Fierce Feature: Tianna

My name is Tianna and I am Makeup Artist and Beauty Vlogger/Blogger. I’m from Trenton, NJ and currently reside in Hamilton Township.

How long have you been natural?

I have been natural since 2010 and I have not looked back.

What motivated you to go natural?

What motivated me to go natural is because I was tired of depending on weaves and wigs to dictate how I felt about myself. I was tired of having to feel like I needed a weave or a wig to go outside. I just wanted to be free. I did my own big chop in front of my vanity and I let my barber at the time do the rest. I had a lady barber so it was easy for me.

How would you describe your hair?

My hair right now is definitely going threw the mature stage in locs. My locs are starting to get thicker and spread which I absolutely love. One of my favorite loc girls are Wahidah Fowler and Ledisi. When I think of locs they are the first two people to come to mind.

What do you love most about your hair?

What I love most about my hair is the freedom. With locs you can do what ever you want to do. People think that because you have locs you are limited but that’s not the case. I can style my hair just like anyone else.

What has been the most memorable part of the journey?
The most memorable part about my hair is when people finally realized that my locs were not a phase and that they were here to stay. When I first started out with my locs, people made fun of me and said a lot of negative things about my hair. The crazy thing is the same people that talked about my hair is the same ones that are natural now.

What is your hair regimen?

My favorite hair care products are really simple at the moment. I basically use Talidah Waajid products and @butterysensations (Check her out on instagram) and that’s it. I limit the amount of buildup in my hair because its hard to remove it out of locs. So, I keep my products as little as possible.

Who are your favorite YouTuber’s?

My favorite Youtubers for locs is Bronzegoddess01 and Kokofemme. I can sit and watch them all day. Its so great to see the natural hair women doing there thing on Youtube and really enjoying it.

Anything else you want readers to know?

“To all my natural hair girls remember that your journey is your own. Its nice to receive tips about natural hair from people but not all natural hair is made equally. What works for them may not work for you!”
