1. Tell me a little about yourself and your hair journey. (Name, where you’re from, etc)

Hey there! I am Chrissie but you can call me Chris. I was born in North Carolina but currently residing in Maryland. I started my hair journey back in 2010. My last, last relaxer was in 2010 when I experienced severe hair and scalp damage. I wore weaves and wigs for a whole year and realized I was natural. I cut all of my relaxed ends off and became fully natural. I big chopped last May so I am on a second natural hair journey now lol.
2. How long have you been natural? Have you always embraced your curls?
I’ve been natural on and off for a total of 5 years. I wanted waves like Toni Braxton in 2014 and the beautician told me I needed a perm for that so I got one. But after that one time, I never got a relaxer again and refuse to ever again.
3. What motivated you to transition? Were you a transitioner or a Big Chopper& why?
My first time going natural I was a transitioner. I had no intentions of going natural. It was either get another relaxer and watch my hair fall out or just leave it alone and see what happens. My second time around, I big chopped because I experienced hair loss from post partum right after I had my baby.
4. How would you describe your hair?
My hair just does its own thing. I’m not sure about the type but I think I’m a mix of 4b & 4c hair! The weather definitely plays a major part because if it is too humid or drizzling outside, that bomb twist out or bantu knots are left for dead!

5. What do you love most about your hair?
I love how free and natural I feel when my hair is out. Even when it nappy or just out, I feel beautiful and free. It’s weird but I love it. It took me a while to embrace it because I thought going natural my hair would be super curly and big like most naturals. But in my case, my hair is really thick, short and kinky and I got to embrace what God blessed me with!
6. What has been the most memorable part of your journey? Has it been easy or difficult or both?!
The most memorable part of my journey is watching how fast my hair has grown. I remember when I cut it, it was so short but I can’t believe how much it has grown since last year.
7. What are (or were) some of your favorite transitioning hairstyles or current dos’?
I love me a bomb twist out or bantu knots! It’s not much you can do with a short tapered two but I’m making it do what it do with what I have!

8. What have your experiences been as a ‘natural.’ Any memorable reactions from family or others?
The most memorable part about my journey is people actually liking and complementing me about my hair. I love my hair but I have my days where I hate how my hair turned out or I get tired of it. My husband (he’s white) loves my natural hair! He wants me to wear it out all the time. My baby loves my hair. I’ve been featured of different natural hair pages on Instagram so it’s a blessing to know that others love my hair as well!
9. What is your hair regimen (including fav products)?
My hair regimen is making sure I wash and deep condition every week, I have to oil my scalp every two days because I have dry hair, and I HAVE to use to silk scarf to make sure my hair is laid to the Gawds and my edges are fleeky in the morning lol. I love Creme of Nature, Argan Oil from Morocco products, Hydratherma Naturals, OGX products, and I’m starting to really like Camille Rose Naturals and Alikay Naturals!
10. What are some of your favorite natural hair websites,YouTuber’s, or blogs?
I have so many but I definitely have to go to the Natural Godmother Whitney from Naptural85, Kelsey and Kendra from the GlamTwinz334, Laila Jean from FusionofCultures and Jessica from Mahogany Curls,My Natural Sistas oh my gosh its so many! I’ll go on all day lol.
11. Anything you want the readers to know? Inspirational words?
I am honored to be interviewed by you. I know there are so many natural hair influencers out there but I want to share my journey and inspire women out there to rock your natural hair. It’s yours so you might as well love and be blessed with what you have girl!
