Naturally Fierce Feature: Lina

My name is Lina Piño Jimenez, I born in Barcelona Spain, I’m mixed my mum (mom) is from Spain and my dad is from Africa. I am  27 years old and  work as a preschool teacher.

How long have you been natural?
I have been natural all my life, but when I was in high school I used to wear braids and I straighten my hair.  In spring of 2007, I decided to rock my afro! I didn’t do a chop, I went to hairdresser and got a curly perm  to equalize my hair, and then I let it grow natural. I loved it and little by little my hair was taking her natural curl. 🙂

What has been the most memorable part of your journey? Has it been easy or difficult or both?!
At first was difficult to deal with my hair and figure out the best product to use. My most memorable part was when I finall felt confident with my natural hair among both my friends and family.

What were some of your favorite hairstyles?
My favorite transitioning hairstyles were twists.

Any memorable reactions from family or others since you went natural?
My lil brother went natural after seeing my hair. My boyfriend encouraged me to  go natural and he loves my natural hair. Mum (mom) at first didn’t like my natural hair, but now she like it.

What is your hair regimen (including fav products)?
I washmy hair between 2 or 3 times a week depending on the week, and one of those day I do a intensive deep conditioning treatment: 20 minutes before I take my shower I put coconut oil on my hair and massage my scalp. In the shower with the conditioning treatment, I comb and detangle my hair. Then I wash with with kerastase nutritive bain satin dosage gluco-active  shampoo, after that I put Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise or Kinky Curly Knot Today leave-in.

For styling my hair:  I apply put kinky curly curling custard  to wet hair and blow dry my hair with diffuser to gain more volume (not for long time only to no catch a cold, hehehe). Then my afro does it itself. 🙂 My hair starterd to get bigger and bigger and more soft. My second day hair  looks even bigger and better.

My favorite products are jamaican mango and lime black castor oil. I apply everyday these oils everyday 😀

What are some of your favorite natural hair websites,YouTuber’s, or blogs?
Brithis curlies was the first websites I saw and is my fav page to buy or look new things and tips. Crystal afro or diosas al natural, meninas de cabelos crespos, I follow this blogs on facebook. I alsp enjoy to finding natural girls on Instagram.

Anything you want the readers to know? Inspirational words?
In spain there aren’t a lot of natural afros, and sometimes begin natural and work as a teacher is difficult, beacuse some parents make jokes about my hair. But I don’t care what the people say, I’m really proud of my african roots and rocking my afro is a tribute to my hertiage. I feel confident and so good with my natural hair, its part of me and is so nice to represent  my African roots.

 (I love your afro too)
