My hair journey began 2007, I transitioned with braids. I was completely natural April 2008. 55 Feet long. That’s the length of the longest strand of Asha Mandela’s dreadlocks. The Atlanta, Georgia resident started growing her hair over 25 years ago. In an interview with The Daily Mail, Mandela says it’s her hair that has given her strength and “cutting it would be equivalent to suicide. It would be like being a zombie.” Having such long hair does come with a price. Mandela’s hair weighs 39 pounds and she has to carry them around in a baby sling. Naturally Fierce Feature: Maya

My name is Maya, and I’m from the DMV! My natural story began over 9 years ago when I found out I was preggers with my first child!! Terrified of harming the baby in any way, I grabbed my shoulder length relaxed hair and cut a huge chunk out, and left about 3 inches of hair so I couldn't chicken out. I hacked off all of it, using copy paper scissors (you know the good kind with the orange handle! lol) and started rocking weaves to transition from my TWA. My husband had shoulder length locs at … [Read more...]

My name is Endia Nicole. I was born in Hawaii and moved to Indiana when I was 8, currently I'm 27 (28 in July). My mother is Samoan and my father is African American. I definitely had a lot of heat damage, but was in denial. It wasn't … [Read more...]
