Hello my name is Aghogho Sowho. I’m Nigerian American from the DMV currently residing in the United Kingdom. Edinburgh to be exact.

I would describe my style as minimalistic, classic, simple and chic. I like my clothing to be simple and comfortable while my accessories to be loud or colourful every now and then. (I’m a magpie at heart attracted to shiny and bright things)

I tend to try on different combinations during the weekend, so when I need to get ready in a rush I already know what looks good together. However, at the end of the day I always end up trying on several pairs of shoes. I believe shoes can make or break an outfit.

My favourite fashion pieces in my closet are my Miu Miu glitter + gem sneakers, this green Vintage jacket, Vintage Czech Statement Necklaces, Carven Bow flats and heels, Salvatore Ferragamo Varina’s and Varas  and my Laura Biagotti vintage glasses. I’m also a sucker for cropped trousers!

I have a couple of favourite store in the UK: Zara, COS, Whistles, & Other Stories, Topshop, Urban Outfitters and Reiss. I love flea markets, vintage stores and stalls as well for the occasional vintage pieces. I also check Ebay for items that sell out in shops, 9 times out of ten someone is selling it on Ebay.

As an accessories blogger, I tend to by jewellery from every and anywhere I also make my own jewellery. For shoes, I’ve become a bit more picky about what I put on my feet. I like quality shoes. Even if they are cheap in cost, I don’t want them to look cheap and I want them to be for the most part chic as well as comfortable. I tend to buy my designer shoes on sale during sale season or online from websites such as Yoox, theoutnet, vestallaire, Net-a-Porter, Farfetch and etc…I believe in quality over quantity and that you should not spend full price on designer items unless you have to.

I have been natural for 9 years now; ten years this October! I have been lazy with my hair lately, but when I am on top of things. I wash my hair bi weekly, moisturize it every other day, then add oils as a sealant. I trim my hair every 3-4 months and do protein treatments about once every 1-2 months depending on my hair elasticity. I also twist or braid my hair every night so my hair will have some type of definition in the morning.

My signature hairstyle is definitely my bantu twist out. I’ve been doing it for years now and haven’t really deviated from the hairstyle very much.

I think my hair is my best accessory it compliments my style perfectly. I don’t feed into negative comments about my hair. For the most part my hair hasn’t been an issue at work places in the UK, it seems we as Americans are the ones more concerned about natural hair in a professional setting.

I am a scientist by background I have a Chemistry and Pharmacy Degree; however, I am an artist at heart. I love accessories and I am currently learning to make jewellery professionally, because I’ve always created things. I sell my pieces and one of a kind vintage jewellery on Etsy at the moment. I hope to debut my first collection later this year.

I also make handmade tee shirts and ankara print clutches. I’ll be relaunching those later this year.

Although, I have two degrees in fields unrelated to fashion or design, I believe inevitably one should always strive to follow their passions; else you’ll end up being living a life of regret.
