Hello to all ! My name Awanda Perez , I live in northern Spain , in the city of A Coruña. Previously I lived in Madrid , London , NYC, Italy and Santo Domingo , the city where I was born. My trip to natural began long ago, but it was not until nearly two years ago , when I decided to start from scratch, by doing a Big Chop .

How long have you been natural?

Now almost two years ago. At other times I had cut my hair, but the lack of information and determination out I became discouraged . Now however, I can not imagine my hair, any other way than with my natural curls.

What motivated you to make the transition ? Were you transitioner or Big Chopper and why?

I decided to do the Big Chop because my hair was very damaged from dryer and abuse of chemicals, so encouraged by my husband Alvaro Lake, one day in the evening , we made the Big Chop.

How would you describe your hair?

My hair is like me. It changes a lot depending on the day . That was one of the first things I had to learn . I have a 3c texture, but on the front of the neck and have a more open loop. My hair is thin , prone to frizz and does not like too much product . As my care routine is pretty simple . Consists moisturize and leave outdoors.

What do you like most about your hair?

No doubt that it has its own life. I can make different hairstyles, which allows me to change my look without making major changes.

What has been the most memorable part of your journey? Has it been easy or difficult , or both?

The part I liked most is when my curls began to flourish . The hardest were the first three months, when did not know what to do with. Just that moment and that is not too short to wear a style , not too long to comb .

Any memorable reaction of family or others? For the very positive experience overall . At first the family did not really understand what he was doing . My mother looked at me and said do not recognize me , because I was used to seeing me with the smooth and long hair. At work the reactions were of surprise. But yes, in no time no one told me I was ugly or that my hair was ugly. The surprise was the change itself , not by the hair type. Well I have a pretty strong personality, they would have dared to say anything lol. My partner has always supported me and helped , without him I could not have to made peace with going natural.

What is your hair regimen (including fav products) ?

Like I said before, my regimen is simple. Wash & Go about every three days. Maybe one day in the month I may wear finger coil or bantu knot out style. First, because I really do like my curls as they are and then because I have not much time. Between work , the blog of GNs and things of houses, doesnt leave many  hours in the day. In terms of products, although at first I tried several , now always use them: My favorites are Shea Moisture , but they are very easy to get here in Spain . I use very little shampoo, moisturizing mask many such ” 3Minute ” Aussie . Another product I love is the cream curl reviving Macadamia oil, because it sets my curls without weighing and also a Anti Frizz Serum … Oils : The one I like is the Olive, although I often use the Argan .

What are some of your favorite websites natural hair YouTuber of , or blogs?

I do not have much time left to see other blogs , overall I like almost everyone. Always learn interesting things . But if I had to choose , or say no , it would definitely be the one to CurlyNikki.com, in my opinion she is the best. The most comprehensive and international. I also had the fortune to meet her and Gene, her Spouse, are really Wonderful.

1 . Cuéntame un poco sobre ti y tu viaje cabello. (Nombre, de dónde eres , etc)

Hola a todas! Me llamo Awanda Pérez, vivo en el norte de España, en la ciudad de A Coruña. Anteriormente viví en Madrid, Londres, NYC, Italia y en Santo Domingo, ciudad en la que nací. Mi viaje a lo natural empezó hace mucho tiempo atrás, pero no fue hasta hace casi dos años atrás, cuando decidí empezar de cero, realizando un Big Chop.

2 . ¿Cuánto tiempo has estado natural?

Ahora hace casi dos años. En otras ocasiones me había cortado mi cabello, pero la falta de información y determinación a cabo por desanimarme. Ahora sin embargo, no me imagino con mi cabello, de otra forma que no sea con mis rizos naturales.

3 . ¿Qué motivó a hacer la transición ? ¿Eras transitioner o un Big Chopper y por qué?

Decidí realizar el Big Chop porque mi cabello estaba muy castigado por el secador y abuso de químicos, así que animada por mi marido Alvaro Lago, un dia por la noche, realizamos el Big Chop que él mismo me hizo.

 4 . ¿Cómo describirías a tu cabello?

Mi cabello es como yo. Cambia mucho según el día. Esa fue una de las primeras cosas que tuve que aprender. Tengo una textura 3c, pero en la parte frontal y la de la nuca tengo un rizo más abierto. Mi cabello es fino, con tendencia al frizz y no le gustan los exceso de productos. Por lo que mi rutina de cuidado es bastante sencilla. Consiste en hidratar y dejar al aire libre.

 5 . ¿Qué te gusta más de tu cabello?

Sin duda que tiene vida propia. Y que puedo realizar diferente peinados, lo cual me permite cambiar mi aspecto sin necesidad de realizar grandes cambios.

 6 . ¿Cuál ha sido la parte más memorable de su viaje ? ¿Ha sido fácil o difícil , o las dos cosas?

La parte que mas me gusto es cuando empezaron a florecer mis rizos. La más difícil fueron los tres primeros meses, cuando no sabía aún, qué hacer con el. Justo ese momento en el que no esta ni muy corto para llevar un estilo, ni muy largo para poder peinarlo.

 7 . ¿Cuáles son (o eran ) algunos de sus cortes de pelo en Transición favoritas o dos actuales ” ( Por favor incluya imágenes , ya que muchos como usted quisiera !)***

Cualquier reacción memorables de la familia u otras personas? Pues la experiencia en general bastante positiva. Al principio la familia no entendía muy bien lo que estaba haciendo. Mi madre me miraba y decía no reconocerme, pues estaba acostumbrada a verme con el cabello liso y largo. En el trabajo las reacciones fueron de sorpresa. Pero eso sí, en ningún momento nadie me dijo que me estaba fea o que mi cabello era feo. La sorpresa era por el cambio en sí, no por el tipo de cabello. Y bueno yo tengo una personalidad bastante marcada, por loque no creo que se hubiesen atrevido a decirme nada jajajaja. Eso si el que siempre me apoyó y me ayudó mucho fue mi pareja. Sin él no hubiese podido hacer las paces con mi naturaleza.

 9 . ¿Cuál es su régimen de cabello ( incluyendo productos fav ) ?

Como te dije antes, mi regimen es muy sencillo. Wash&Go más o menos cada tres días. Quizas un dia en el mes realizó algún estilo tipo Cols finger or bantu knot out pero no es frecuente para mi realizar estilos. Primero porque de verdad que me gustan mis rizos tal cual son y luego porque no tengo mucho tiempo. Entre el trabajo, el blog de GNs y las cosas de casas, me faltan horas en el dia. En cuanto a productos, aunque en un principio probé varios, ahora utilizo siempre los mismos: Mis favoritos son los de Shea Moisture, pero no son muy fáciles de conseguir aqui en España. Utilizo muy poco champú, mucha mascarilla hidratante por ejemplo “3MINUTE” de Aussie. Y otro producto que me encanta es la cream reviving curl de Macadamia oil, porque fija mis rizos sin apelmazar y tambien un Serum Anti Frizz…Aceites: El que más me gusta es el de Oliva. Aunque muchas veces utilizo el de Argán.

 10 . ¿Cuáles son algunos de sus sitios web favoritos de cabello natural , YouTuber de , o blogs?

No me quedaba mucho tiempo para ver otros bLog, en general me gustan casi todos. Siempre se aprenden cosas interesante. Pero si tuviese que elegir, o decir alguno, sin duda sería el de CurlyNikki.com a mi modo de ver ella es la mejor. La más completa e internacional. Además tuve la suerte de conocerla y junto con Gene, su Esposo, son realmente Maravillosos.
