Well its been a year !! Can you believe it?? Its crazy how time flies when you’re having fun! What’s new? My hair has grown! I have learned to do my own Marley twist! I have done a lot of things I said I wouldn’t – like wrapping my hair with a scarf as a turban, hey desperate times call for desperate measures! I also recently dyed my hair and anyone who knows me knows I always wanted to go blonde, that was my intention for the upcoming summer but you know what they say, “ Once you go black….” Haha I love my black hair!
What have you learned about your hair?
She is thick, curly, fluffy, loves single-stranded knots, has medium porosity for the most part, and loves water! Fortunately as well as unfortunately I have also learned that my hair will give in to heat damage easily. I have not straightened it yet, however I did a roller set recently and used a curling wand twice, literally two times and I did experience heat damage -though it was minimal. After two protein treatments the damaged sections have almost been fully revived. So when I do decide to straighten I will have tons of heat protectant and low heat.
Has your regimen changed?
Its still pretty similar only slight changes- I was co washing twice a week last year because I had more time on my hands, now I only co –wash once a week. I no longer use shampoo, if I feel like my hair needs to be cleansed I use acv mixed with water. I currently deep condition with Aubrey Organics GPB Conditioner every week (that’s the goal). Then I follow with which ever conditioner I’m feeling, I rotate the same conditioners I was using last year- Tresseme Naturals, any Organix Conditioner, Herbal Essences Hello Hydration and I have added Aussie Moist, then depending on how I’m styling my hair I will still use Shea moisture’s Curl Enhancing Smoothie, Giovanni’s Direct Weightless leave-in or kinky curly’s knot today or my new fave Organix’s Curling Perfection Defining Cream sealed with an oil.
Any new hair styling tips or fave dos?
• Always ensure your hair is moisturized, after using your chosen moisturizer always seal with an oil ( jojoba, coconut, grapeseed etc).
• Be patient, never be in a rush when detangling.
Though I haven’t done one in a while my fave hair style would still be twist outs!
What do you love most about your hair?
I really love the versatility of my hair, the number of hair styles I can wear are limitless.
