How long have you been natural?
I’ve been Natural for 9 months now but recently BC’d (big chopped) again.
What motivated you to transition? Were you a transitioner or a Big Chopper& why?
I transitioned for four months before I BC’d the first time, I didn’t really know I was transitioning until I came across YouTube (addicted lol). I’m a transitioner and big chopped and I big chopped because my hair was falling out like crazy but at that time I didn’t know that its was falling because of the two textures that I was dealing with but you live and you learn.
Why did you Big Chop again?
I honestly BC’d again because I got tried, just tried of doing my hair all the time, I got tried of my dry, dead, and brittle ends and I my hair was consuming me. It became something that I couldn’t stop thinking about.
What are you planning on doing different this time around?
Well this time around I’m planning on taking it SLLLOOOOWWW because when I first BC’d I rushed to make it grow my short TWA days flew right before my eyes and I’m gonna learn my hair even better.
What has been the most memorable part of your journey?Has it been easy or difficult or both?!
The most memorable moment part of my journey is CHOPPING it all off. It was such a bold move for me and it also built my confidence. It has been easy and difficult for me to revert back to natural cuz it’s not all peaches and cream but it’s worth and I LOVE it!
What are some of your favorite transitioning hairstyles?
My all time favorite hairstyle that I loved doing was a twistout, twistouts loved me lol!
What have your experiences been as a ‘natural?’
I’ve had a wonderful experience while reverting back to natural but I remember when I first cut off all my hair I had little insecurities but the reaction I got from most people was impeccable.
What is your hair regimen (including fav products)?
When it come’s down to a fixed hair regimen I didn’t really have one, never found wonderful products that went with my hair or scalp but I did have products that I liked and loved. I LOVE Carol’s Daughter “Transitioning Kit”, Carol’s Daughter Healthy Hair Butter (allergic to Shea butter), Carol’s Daughter Tui Moisturizing Shampoo, Dark and Lovely Knot Out Conditioner, and One N Only: Argan Oil Curl Cream.

I want all you lovely Natural Divas to know that no one could ever make you feel amiss without you allowing it. Learn to love yourself and your hair. Some women have told that “oh I might look ugly with short hair, might look ugly with natural hair” but who said? I’ve learned to love my natural hair first and like other people hair. To all the transitioners, and big choppers just know that this journey would be worth your while.
