Fashionable Friday: Vic Styles

8

I’m Vic: fashion blogger (www.VicStyles.com), photographer, and wardrobe stylist. I’m originally from DC, went to college in Alabama, and now I live in Los Angeles

How would you describe your style?

My style is a mix of comfort, vintage, and trendy. I LOVE mixing prints, textures, and colors. I rarely wear anything REALLY short or REALLY tight. I like to have fun and I experiment a lot with bold accessories and color blocking.
How do you decide what to wear in the morning?
Hmmm… it depends on the weather, what time of the month it is, and my hair. If I’m bloated i tend to wear looser clothes and darker colors. If I’m having a bad hair day I make sure that whatever I’m wearing matches one of my hats or scarves.

What are your favorite wardrobe pieces?
I cannot live without black skinny jeans, bold necklaces, vintage tshirts, and high waisted skirts.

Where do you typically shop for clothes and accessories?
I shop EVERYWHERE!!! I literally own higher end pieces like YSL, Jimmy Choo, DVF, Christian Louboutin..and I also own $1 dresses from the thrift store.

Let’s talk hair. How long have you been natural? What is your normal regimen.
I have been natural my entire life. My mom never relaxed my hair even when I begged for one. My normal regimen is fairly simple:
I do a protein treatment once a week (I try different ones because I’m still trying to find which one works the best for me) the i steam my hair while the treatment is on. I do this for about 30 minutes. I then wash my hair (once a month) with Heavenly Scent shampoo, then deep condition with Shea Moisture conditioner(mixed with caster oil). After my hair is washed i moisturize with coconut oil and then style and go.
Do you have a signature hairstyle?
BIG HAIR!!! The bigger the better. I normally pick my hair out so it’s nice and big a fluffy.

How does your natural hair work with your style?
My hair is my favorite accessory. Since i mix so many prints and patterns, and my style naturally has a ’70s feel.. my hair just adds to the vibe.
