My name is Chanéqua Margaret, I’m 20 years old and live in the Netherlands. During the week I’m a student studying International Music Management. In the weekends I work as a door host at nightclubs. In my spare time I like to hang out with family and friends or make photos. I did some modeling but to be honest I haven’t had time for that in a while now.

How long have you been natural?

I have been natural for as long as I can remember. Ever since I had hair my mom has always been busy making sure my hair looked good haha. When I got older I obviously started doing this myself.

What are  some of your favorite t hairstyles?
Last summer I decided to make a drastic change and dye my hair RED! I was over the same, in my eyes ‘boring’, look and wanted something completely different. One day I woke up and decided to just do it, I LOVED it. I think I have never had that many compliments about my hair in my life haha. I had it for like three months last summer but it was just too much work and not the best thing for my hair. It was fun for as long as it lasted haha I still miss it every now and then.



What have your experiences been as a ‘natural.’ Any memorable reactions from family or others? My family is used to seeing me natural, all I ever changed was the color. For friends, colleagues and classmates it’s new. I lost count of the amount of people asking me if they can touch my hair. Haha comments such as ‘I bet you don’t need a pillow’ or ‘You’re probably never cold’ are things I’ve heard too many times. I think it is funny how people are so curious about my hair.

What is your hair regimen (including fav products)? Through the years I have realized that my hair needs a lot of moisturizing. I used to make my hair wet every morning, which made that it became very dry. This was around the age of 11/12. My mom and I decided to twist my hair for a year to make sure it became healthy again. After that I’ve always been trying to not wash it more often than necessary, which would be once a week.

What are some of your favorite natural hair websites, YouTuber’s, or blogs? I am not really into reading blogs and watching YouTube videos but I’m totally Instagram addicted.
