2. How long have you been natural?
I started transitioning in 2008 and I chopped the rest of my permed hair in 2009 .
3. What motivated you to transition? Were you a transitioner or a Big Chopper& why?
I wanted to transition to my natural hair because I originally wanted to see what my natural curl pattern was. I never saw my natural curl pattern. Can you believe that? I was brain washed to believe that if I saw any new growth it was time for a perm.
4. How would you describe your hair?
I would describe my hair as a complicated melody. I love how thick my hair is and how I can change my hairstyle from curly to straight. At times may hair can be difficult to deal with but it’s still a blessing to have, that’s why I consider it to be a complicated melody.

I love the versatility of my hair, and I love how thick it is. Having thick, luscious curls are the best!
6. What has been the most memorable part of your journey ?Has it been easy or difficult or both?!
The most memorable part of my journey is the beginning stage. I had to figure out what products worked best for my hair and that took a lot of time and patience to do. It was not easy to transition at first and there were times when I wanted to give up but I’m
glad I didn’t.
7. What were some of your favorite transitioning hairstyles?
My favorite transitioning styles were sew-ins and braids. Today my go to style is a gorgeous twist out! I love twist outs. This is the one style that I can maintain for two weeks.
8. What have your experiences been as a ‘natural’? Any memorable reactions from family or others?
I get a lot of attention, some negative and some positive. I get some people that stop me and ask for hair tips and tricks for healthy hair. I love giving tips and advice on natural hair.
