Hi readers, My name is Queenie Constancia (24 years). I’m currently living in The Netherlands, Amsterdam. After finishing High School I decided to move out from my native island CURACAO to AMSTERDAM. I’m studying Small Business & Retail Management at The University of Applied Sciences Amsterdam.  I am a part-time model and I have Brand Ambassador for QUEENSZ.

How long have you been natural?

I have been natural all my life, but I changed my hairstyle to an afro-look at 15 years old.

How would you describe your hair?

My hair has an attitude of its own, it could be super curly one day and on another day it refuses to curl. I would say it is a kinky and curly afro combo. My hair is just weird, so I let it do its thing. After all my hair is my trademark.

What do you love most about your hair?

It illustrates the open-minded, outgoing, crazy, funny person that I am. It’s also easy to handle: WASH &GO or TEASE & GO.

What has been the most memorable part of your journey? Has it been easy or difficult or both?!

As I said before, I have always been a  naturalista, so I never transitioned. So I guess I would have to say easy, because I do not know any other way to have my hair.

What are some of your favorite hairstyles?

I like to play with hair color and I have tried some crazy things, I loved it when my hair was bright red & Blond. I also cut a large chunk of my hair, just to get rid of dead ends and look healthier.

What have your experiences been as a ‘natural?’ Any memorable reactions from family or others?

People always want to touch my hair. In the beginning I was okay with it, but now it is a little bit annoying.

You always have people that will question if the afro is real. I am very open to questions and product referral… But when it gets to random people pulling my hair, to do the “is this a weave check?”, that is when I become a little less open to people touching.

What is you hair regimen (including fav products)?

I have a pretty easy regimen; I start off by shampooing and conditioning my hair, detangle it completely. After that I put in my products and use a blow dryer to dry it or depending on the weather I just let it air dry.

The products that I use are also my favorites: African Pride (olive miracle) maximum strengthening moisturizer lotion, African pride (shea butter miracle) silky hair moisturizer and Sedal obedient curls leave-in. And I have just started using hairfinity, just waiting to see the results.

What are some of your favorite natural hair websites,YouTuber’s, or blogs?

I am not really into tutorials and videos,, but I love following people with great hair on instagram. My favorite one is Taren Guy, I love her hair. And other instagram pages that I like are: Globalcouture, urbanhairpost, healthy_hair_journey & hair2mesmerize.
