10 Dope Grey/Silver Naturalistas You’ll Love

I remember the days when younger people wouldn’t dream of dying their hair grey. Actually, older women who had gray hair didn’t want grey hair. The first sign of a gray strand and they were running to the drugstore to purchase a box of “Natural Black” by some major hair care brand. Today, not only are women embracing their natural grey tresses, they are booking appointments to have their colorist transform them into silver sirens. Grey hair is definitely on trend. This ain’t your grandma’s … [Read more...]

Should Head Wraps be Worn in the Workplace?

Many of us naturals have struggled with the way our hair should be worn in the workplace, but what about head wraps and turbans? Is there an appropriate way to wear them or should they even be allowed in the office at all? I’ll be the first to admit that I was against this whole idea of head wraps in the office, unless it carried a religious meaning. Actually, I wasn’t even really excited, at first, to be writing this article since I had such a strong opinion about it being prohibited. … [Read more...]

Deep Conditioning: Your Hair’s Best Friend

Deep conditioning is something we know all too well. Depending on your hair’s needs, some naturalista’s may feel like doing it once a week or once a month is sufficient enough. I use Africa’s Best Organics Hair Mayonnaise as my deep conditioner once a month to strengthen and moisturize my hair. The directions instruct leaving it on for 15 minutes but I prefer leaving it in overnight and washing it out in the morning. Overall the product has done wonders for my hair and has contributed … [Read more...]

It was only in 2014 that I discovered my love for whipped butter. This gem has multiple purposes and who doesn't love a product that can be used for both your hair and skin! Hair: It helps to seal in moisture, provides shine and lustre to the hair and helps tame frizz and fly-aways. Due to the ingredients, it helps to make the hair soft and supple therefore reduces friction on the hair strands which helps to reduce tangles and knots. It also is great on the scalp! For the skin: The … [Read more...]
